As a 46-year-old immigrant to the United Kingdom on a dependent visa, I've encountered my fair share of challenges, particularly in securing employment. Despite relentless efforts and numerous job applications, rejection has become a constant companion, leaving me feeling disheartened and undervalued. The weight of responsibility to provide for my family, coupled with the demands of caring for two young children, has only exacerbated the sense of despair.
In the midst of this uphill battle, maintaining hope can feel like an insurmountable task. The sting of rejection from job interviews, where the promise of opportunity swiftly turned into disappointment, has left me questioning my worth and abilities. The fear of slipping into depression looms large, casting a shadow over each passing day.
Yet, amidst the darkness, I cling to the flicker of hope that refuses to be extinguished. Here are some strategies I've employed to navigate this challenging period and keep my spirits buoyed:
